TUESDAY: Next Step for Affordable Housing Overlay

🎉 The 100% Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO) amendments were passed out of Ordinance Committee this past Thursday! Thank you to everyone who emailed and gave public comment—and thank you to the Councillors who voted in favor, Mayor Siddiqui, Vice Mayor Mallon, and Councillors Azeem, McGovern, Simmons, and Zondervan. 🎉

This is an important win: It means City Council has agreed to move the AHO forward to the final Council votes to make it law. But we still have more hoops to get through before we can make it easier to build more affordable housing in Cambridge.

📅 THIS TUESDAY, August 8th at 6:30pm, the Planning Board will review the AHO amendments and make a recommendation to City Council. Some Planning Board members doubt there is a housing crisis in Cambridge, not even for lower income residents.

Let the planning board know the housing crisis is real:

✍️ Email the Planning Board, City Clerk, and Bcc us ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) by 5pm MONDAY.

📣 Even better, sign up and speak at the Planning Board hearing on Tuesday at 6:30pm.
